The DEMETER Ghana research team at the Institute of statistical social and economic research (ISSER) of the University of Ghana present a research documentary featuring findings from the research that has been conducted in Ghana for the last 6 years.

In Ghana agriculture remains the single largest employer (employing 30% of the working population) and the livelihoods of many Ghanaians are directly or indirectly linked to this sector.

In order to explore key issues facing commercial farmers in Ghana, the team has been researching 4 districts in 4 regions of Ghana. This documentary provides an understanding of the state of agriculture, how the sector has changed over the years, its potentials, the effects of agricultural sector policies on farmers, the challenges facing farmers in general and women farmers in particular, and what measures farmers recommend for strengthening agriculture and its contribution to decent employment and to Ghana’s economic development.
