Christophe Golay will participate to the Expert Seminar dedicated to “The Right to Food Soveignty and Other Collective Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas” on the 6th of October 2017.
The Expert Seminar will debate the possible inclusion of right to food sovereignty and other collective rights, such at the right to land and the right to free, prior and informed consent into the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas. Discussion will include the definition of these rights in the UN Declaration being negotiated at the Human Rights Council.
The other participants will be Olivier De Schutter (member of the UN CESCR, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food – keynote speech at 9.20), Geneviève Savigny (La Via Campesina), Ana Maria Suarez Franco and Andrea Nuila (FIAN International), Priscilla Claeys (Coventry University), Liz Alden Wily (Leiden University), Christina Schiavoni (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Jeremie Gilbert (University of East London), Adriana Bessa (Geneva Academy) and H.E. Ambassador Nardi Suxo Iturry (Permanent Representative of Bolivia to the UN in Geneva).
This Expert Seminar is organized by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, the Government of Switzerland, the Permanent Mission of Bolivia to the United Nations in Geneva, and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).
